Piles & Piles of Leaves
Last fall, my in-laws had gathered all their leaves in the backyard, and my kids loved it. They were jumping and running, and all the while I was trying hard to get a picture of them leaping into the leaves. As you can see in the picture for this post, they weren’t having any of wanting to hold still for a picture.
And I started thinking about how many people get after random parents for not just being in the moment. As a kid, I loved it when my parents got out the camcorder. They had that thing out every time we had a school performance and every holiday. They even had a recorded video of me counting to five in Spanish, and I don’t know Spanish. Those are treasured memories, and that video was shown to my wife before we were married. So she chose to still go through with it even after watching the family home videos.
I am going to enjoy the time I have with my small children, and I am going to record some of it. We need to leave the piles and piles of worries behind us. Stop worrying that you’re not being in the moment, and also stop worrying about missing the moment by living behind a camera. What’s the most critical thing? Have fun! So, however you do that, do it with all your heart.
